Is porn addiction real?

Clinics talk about compulsive sexual behaviour and problematic porn use, not always the word “addiction.” If you cannot stop, keep using despite harm, and feel out of control, the label matters less than getting a plan.

Google is full of arguments about whether “porn addiction” is a real diagnosis. ICD-11 includes compulsive sexual behaviour disorder. Research on problematic pornography use looks at loss of control, continued use despite consequences, and distress. Some people have moral guilt without a compulsive pattern. Others have a pattern that looks a lot like other process addictions.

If you are here because you keep promising to stop and then do not, treat the behaviour as a habit loop you can interrupt. You do not need a court ruling on the word to install friction, track days, and ask for help if it is wrecking sleep, work, or a relationship.
